The new show opening on February 12th during ArtWalk will be:
“A Mariner’s View of Life on the South Coast” featuring the work of gallery artist, Dutch Mostert.  Dutch is an award winning artist who is internationally recognized for his transparent watercolors.  Dutch creating some new plein aire pieces using watercolors and oils.  Dutch is a master at capturing the character of the Northwest.  Plan to attend his opening to see his new pieces and visit with the artist.  Dutch’s work will be featured through April 7th.

The Gallery is currently in the midst of an open show entitled “Winter Light”.  Artists from the area were invited to submit pieces that depicted that special glow that comes from winter light.  There is a great variety of work from many artists. If you haven’t made it in the see this show; it’s not too late, it will be featured until February 10th. 

As a thank you to all of you who have supported our business we will be having a bargain sale for the starving artist.  Many pre-cut mats various sizes and used frames will be sold at bargain basement prices.  Pieces of mat board and foamboard will be free.  This sale will be on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 16th and 17th from 10:00-5:00 at the gallery.  Come early for the best selection.

Carolyn LeGrand will be starting her new classes on Friday, February 6th.  Due to some family health problems it has been delayed to that date.  She will be teaching two watercolor classes:
Adventures in Beginning Watercolor  from 1:00-3:00 PM, Feb. 6,13,20, and 27th.  Class fee is $60.  Explore the basic techniques to create paintings of your favorite subjects.
Expressions in Watercolor from 10:00-12:00 noon, Feb. 6, 13, 20 & 27th.  Class fee is $60.  Class will focus on loosening up and incorporating new techniques to enhance your individual style.
If you are interested in either of these classes from Carolyn, please call the gallery at 756-7638 to reserve your spot.  You will find Carolyn to be a positive, encouraging and lively teacher.  This will be something great to be doing on those gray days that we know are coming!

Be sure to read our “Call to Artists” for the upcoming show in April and May.  All of you are invited to enter the show.  Now’s your time to get something new ready for the show.  Thank you again for your continued support of our business. 

Call to Artists:  Select Art Gallery invites you to enter their show entitled:  “Spring Time; Rhapsody in Green”.  Your entry can be a reflection of springtime, inspired from a piece of music or just contain an element of green.
Acceptable mediums include:  oil, graphite, watercolor, acrylic, prismacolor, photography, fabric art, ceramics, glass, wood, baskets, jewelry and prints.  Please restrict the size of your entry to 16” x 20” or smaller.  Notify the gallery of your intent to enter the show by March 31st.  Entries will be due in the gallery by April 6th.  The show will open on Thursday, April 9th during ArtWalk.  Visitors to the gallery will be selecting a “Best of Show” winner.  That winner will receive a $50 gift certificate for the gallery.  Call:  Easy Lane Frames & Select Art Gallery for details  756-7638.
